In prepping for our campaign shoot in Milan, whether looking at the Coveteur, Vanity Fair, or any number of other travel guides, I kept coming across the same shopping recommendation: ViBi VENEZiA. I was charmed by the image of a simple Venetian slipper in chic Robin's egg blue with red grosgrain trim and dug a little deeper. Soon I was noticing them on every well-heeled, er... soled, woman in New York and had to know more.

The brand is the brainchild of sisters, Vera and Viola Arrivabene, born and raised in Venice. We popped into the jewel box shop that they have in Milan and learned more:

How would you describe your personality?

We are very lucky as we compliment each other!

What is the last book you read?

Infidel, My Life by Aya Harsi Ali

What is a skill that you are currently working on?

Both of us are trying to be good parents. :)

What’s the best thing that has happened to you in the last thirty days?

The success of a vibi project.

Who is the person you talk to the most on the phone?

Each other.

What is your role in the business?

I (Viola) am the Creative Director and Vera is the CEO.

What is your business superpower?

We compliment each other completely.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Learn from your mistakes.

What has been the most surprising thing you’ve learned since starting your business?

The challenging moments when there is a problem are actually the best ones.

In 5 years, how does the business look different than it does today?

We are organically growing and taking a step at the time, being able to open our first flagship store in the center of Milan, and now looking for a location in Venice.

What are you inspired by right now?

The mix of unexpected colors and materials.

Is there something you’re currently into that the you-of-five-years-ago would not have expected?

Music.

What’s your favorite space in your home?

My bedroom in Venice.

Which objects in your home have deep significance to you?

A little frame on top of my bed.

What is one item that you have to have in your bag at all times?

Sisley lip stick.

Where is your favorite place to be?

At home.

Do you prefer the comfort of returning to the same places again and again or are you always thinking of your next destination?

At the end as much as we love exploring new places, there isn't anything better then going back to the places and people you love.

Hotels or homes on vacation?

Depends on the type of vacation! So both!

What kind of souvenirs do you bring back from your travels?

Beautifully ugly t-shirts.

Which destination is at the top of your bucket list right now?

Norway in the summer!
